A purpose-built digital service designed to solve adult loneliness by facilitating genuine friendships through shared, real-world experiences. We developed an intentional platform that moves beyond online networking, connecting algorithm-matched groups of six people for weekly curated activities, transforming urban isolation into community.
The core mandate was to create a trustworthy alternative to awkward networking and dating apps, specifically designed for adults seeking platonic, meaningful connections. The platform needed to eliminate the friction of planning and the anxiety of large groups by offering a curated, “just show up” model that guarantees a safe and fun environment for introverts and newcomers alike.
The primary challenge was overcoming digital fatigue and building trust for an in-person meeting model. The design needed to be vibrant and welcoming while clearly communicating key differentiators: a strict no-dating policy, verified members, small group sizes, and beginner-friendly activities to lower the barrier to entry.
Build Trust Through Transparency: Clearly communicate the verified member process, community guidelines, and the intentional 6-person “squad” model to ensure safety and comfort from the outset.
Simplify Socializing: Design a seamless three-step user journey (Find Vibe → Pick Moment → Show Up) that handles all logistics (venue, intros, icebreakers), removing the planning burden from the user.
Showcase the Experience & Outcome: Use vibrant visuals of diverse activities (from bowling to hikes) and highlight authentic user testimonials to demonstrate the tangible result: “500+ new friendships this month.”
The launch of Vybly successfully created a new category in social connection apps. The vibrant, experience-focused design and clear value proposition led to rapid community growth, with 500+ people joining and forming new friendships monthly. By solving core anxieties around making friends as an adult, Vybly positioned itself not as another app, but as a guaranteed gateway to real-life community and belonging.
